Welcome back to LIS! It's a brand new year and I'm excited to attempt to get some things back to "normal" this year! We still have to follow COVID guidelines but we're able to share resources, work in groups, and mix classes here and there. All steps in the right direction!
If you're reading this and you are currently a sixth grader, please know that I value kindness and respect more than anything else. There is no doubt that math is important and necessary in your daily life but nothing is more important than learning to be a genuinely caring person and practicing that throughout your day. In addition, I also fully believe that hard work will always pay off. It may not seem like it at the time but if you consistently put forth your best effort and continue to persevere through the most challenging tasks, you will come away with more knowledge and character than before. Feel free to take a look at the other pages on my classroom webpage. I still have some updating to do for this school year but many of the links/tools will help you get a solid grasp on some of the concepts we'll be covering as well as some of the programs and websites we'll use to help us get there. As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you need anything!

Today marks the final day of our almost two full weeks since distance learning started on March 30. I have to say that although it hasn't been perfect, I am very impressed at the hard work, dedication, and perseverance of all sixth graders! It's amazing to see the adjustments made in such a short amount of time to prepare and I consider myself lucky to teach in a district with such passionate, responsible, and caring students, parents, staff, and administration.
For the current students (and parents if willing), I'm attaching a very quick survey to collect some feedback about the experience of distance learning so far, specifically in math. I would greatly appreciate it if you could take the time to fill out the survey honestly so I can try to continue improving this process for however long we are out of school. Thank you and I hope everyone enjoys the April break! LIS 6th graders are officially math prodigies! Memberships arrived this Monday afternoon and it's an understatement to say the students are excited and battling their way to math greatness. Since the memberships were applied less than 48 hours ago, students have answered a jaw-dropping 4,000 plus questions! Keep up the hard work!!
Thank you to those of you that have been patiently waiting for our Prodigy memberships to arrive. They should be distributed at some point this week. For more information about Prodigy, please check out the link below!
